Well, what a close season! Every waking hour glued to forums and twitter hoping to be amongst the first to discover who Forest’s new owners would be, and what would become of Darlington.
While the former looks to have been settled for the greater good, the fortunes of Darlo have suffered innumerable knock-backs from the English footballing authorities, who relegated them three more levels, not allowing entry into cup competitions, despite loyal fans efforts to initially ensure the club saw out the season – successfully – and then try to do the right thing by creditors, despite the hurdle of one individual wanting his cake and eating it.
Contrast that with the hoops that the Scottish footballing authorities were prepared to jump through to ensure the Auld Firm status quo north of the border. Fans were united that the cosy scenario wouldn’t happen and so it looks like Berwick will get a couple of bumper gates this season. The challenge now is for the Wee ‘Gers to match their big brothers stride-for-stride and ensure two more full houses next year!
Let the games commence (and i don’t mean the Olympic ones…)
